What CVG Substrate Is, and Why Ours
CVG stands for coco coir, vermiculite, and gypsum, the three ingredients in this bulk substrate. It is a pre-mixed 4 lb bag you combine with colonized grain spawn to fruit a wide range of gourmet and functional mushrooms.
What's in the bag
A 4 lb pre-mixed blend of coco coir for structure and water retention, vermiculite for moisture and air pockets, and gypsum for minerals and to keep the mix loose. No fillers.
The substrate we grow on
This is the same CVG we fruit our own mushrooms on in San Diego. Because we grow the fruiting bodies that go into our tinctures and dried products, this is a working farm recipe we rely on in small batches, not a formula bought off a shelf.
How to grow with it
Combine the CVG with fully colonized grain spawn in a clean tub, level and lightly firm the surface, then introduce fresh air and humidity to trigger fruiting. Keep everything clean to limit contamination, and harvest when the caps open.
